Referral Program

How the Referral Program Works

TurboPentest's referral program rewards you for spreading the word. When someone you refer signs up and makes their first credit purchase, both you and the referred user earn bonus credits. It is a straightforward way to reduce your pentesting costs while helping others discover the platform.

The Referral Flow

  1. Get your referral link — Every TurboPentest account has a unique referral link found in Settings > Referral Program. The link format is https://turbopentest.com/ref/YOUR_CODE.
  2. Share your link — Send it to colleagues, post it in relevant communities (where allowed), include it in blog posts, or mention it in conference talks.
  3. Referred user signs up — When someone clicks your link and creates an account, they are tagged as your referral.
  4. Referred user purchases — When the referred user makes their first credit purchase (any amount), the referral is activated.
  5. Both parties earn credits — You receive bonus credits and the referred user receives a welcome bonus on top of their purchase.

Reward Structure

EventYou (Referrer)Them (Referred)
First purchase by referred user20% of purchase amount as bonus credits10% bonus credits added to their purchase
Referred user's subsequent purchases (first 6 months)5% of purchase amount as bonus creditsNo additional bonus

For example, if your referral purchases 10 credits, you receive 2 bonus credits and they receive 1 bonus credit on top of their 10.

The recurring 5% bonus for the first six months means that active referrals provide ongoing value beyond the initial sign-up.

Credit Caps

Referral credits are subject to monthly caps to prevent abuse:

  • Per-referral cap: Maximum 50 bonus credits per referred user per month
  • Monthly aggregate cap: Maximum 200 bonus credits from all referrals per month
  • Minimum purchase: The referred user's first purchase must be at least 1 credit to activate the referral

Tracking Your Referrals

Referral Dashboard

The referral dashboard (Settings > Referral Program) shows:

  • Total referrals — Number of users who signed up via your link
  • Activated referrals — Number who have made their first purchase
  • Pending referrals — Signed up but not yet purchased (these may still convert)
  • Credits earned — Total bonus credits earned from referrals, broken down by month
  • Active recurring — Referrals still within their 6-month recurring bonus window

Attribution Window

Referral attribution uses a 30-day cookie window. If someone clicks your referral link but does not sign up immediately, they are still attributed to you if they create an account within 30 days. After 30 days, the attribution expires.

If a user clicks multiple referral links, the last click within the 30-day window receives attribution (last-click attribution model).

Referral Statuses

Each referral moves through these statuses:

  • Clicked — The user clicked your link (tracked via cookie)
  • Signed Up — The user created a TurboPentest account
  • Activated — The user made their first purchase, triggering your bonus
  • Recurring — The user is within the 6-month recurring bonus window
  • Completed — The 6-month window has ended

Strategies for Maximizing Referrals

Content Marketing

Write about your experience with TurboPentest:

  • Blog posts — Write a review or tutorial that includes your referral link
  • Conference talks — Mention TurboPentest in security conference presentations (include your referral link on your slides or speaker bio)
  • Social media — Share pentest insights (anonymized) with a mention of TurboPentest
  • YouTube/videos — Create walkthrough videos demonstrating TurboPentest features

Direct Recommendations

The highest-converting referrals come from personal recommendations:

  • Team recommendations — Suggest TurboPentest to your security team or engineering team
  • Consultant recommendations — If you do security consulting, recommend TurboPentest to clients
  • Community recommendations — When someone asks about pentesting tools in forums or Discord servers, share your experience

Ethical Guidelines

The referral program is designed for genuine recommendations:

  • Do not spam — Bulk unsolicited messages violate the terms of service
  • Disclose the referral — When sharing your link, mention that it is a referral link
  • Be honest — Do not make claims about TurboPentest that are not supported by the platform's actual capabilities
  • Respect community rules — Many forums and Discord servers have rules about promotional links. Follow them.

Violations of ethical guidelines result in referral program suspension and forfeiture of pending credits.

Referral Program for Teams

Organizations can set up a team referral link that attributes all referrals to the team account rather than individual members. This is useful for:

  • Company blog posts that mention TurboPentest
  • Marketing collateral shared by sales teams
  • Partner organization referrals

Team referral links are configured in Settings > Team > Referral Program and require admin-level access.

Tax Considerations

Referral credits are platform credits, not cash payments. They have no monetary redemption value and cannot be withdrawn as currency. Credits can only be used to purchase TurboPentest pentests. Consult your tax advisor regarding whether bonus credits constitute taxable benefits in your jurisdiction.
